Today I have some pictures from one of our recent events, which was a baby shower for a baby boy.
If you ask me, the key to a great event is a perfect blend of great planning, a great venue, beautiful details, and awesome guests.
And honestly, I get the most joy out of designing events for my clients. From building color stories to creating unique design elements, selecting linen, invitations, creating the room layout, I could go on and on! It’s just so much fun! It really doesn’t feel much like work.
Last month, I planned and designed a baby shower with a yellow, gray and white color scheme (don’t you just LOVE those colors together?!) accented with chevron print. Chevron print is still a trend and I think it works great for the summer time and has more of a masculine feel so it fit in well for this event.
Here are some pictures from the event along with some tips for planning a great shower for yourself or a loved one.
Tip #1: Carry out the theme throughout all of the details
When you decide on a color palette or theme, make sure you incorporate it into the details of the day. I love introducing the color palette and theme in the event invites so the event tells a consistent story from the first time guests receive the invite to when they arrive at the event.

Tip #2 Pick a great venue
If you're wondering where to spend your money, the most important aspects of any event are the venue, food and music. Selecting a good looking venue that doesn't need too much added details and design will not only reduce your design costs but also create the best background and environment for your event. I loved using the modern and bright space at The B Loft.
Tip #3 Don't be afraid to mix the same print but in different colors
Using the same print but in different colors brings in a different dimension and visual interest to the space. As long as the colors are in your color palette or are a great complement or accent color, then it will look great!
Tip #4 Invest in the details that will be remembered
For an event like a baby shower, the cake is one detail that guests will look at and eagerly anticipate getting a bite of! The cake is also an element of the day that many people will want to take a picture of so make sure it looks nice and feeds into the overall theme of the event.
Tip #5 Spend time creating hand made details
Unique details are what guests will remember once the event has ended so take some time thinking of and executing some fun details that guests will use throughout the event. This photo booth backdrop was made by me using colorful cardstock paper. If you want a tutorial, just let me know in the comments below!
Tip #6 Make a statement with you linen and floral arrangements
If you’re looking for a real “bang for your buck” tip, invest in your table linen. This mix of chevron print and lemon table linen was one of the key focus areas for the event.
The flowers also added to the overall design since I used whole lemons and sliced lemons in the floral centerpieces.
